PeterM has released the first beta of his port of the classic game Quake for the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii. Quake on GameCube now runs At 320x264 (PAL), demo 1 runs at comfortably over 70 frames per second. At 640x528, it runs at just under 30. Have in mind that you'll need the original Quake game by id Software in order to be able to run it on GameCube or the Wii.

It seems that Nintendo is working on adding USB device support to the Wii console and that is great news since the Wii has 2 USB ports available that are still unused. Some users have noticed that after updating their console with the latest official firmware version 3.0 some USB keyboards started working with the Wii. Unfortunately no official keyboard support was announced by Nintendo and of course you can't use the keyboard in any screens requiring you to enter some text. Unfortunately the USB keyboard support doesn't work in the Internet Channel and that is a place that definitely will benefit form keyboard support. Actually Nintendo may be planning about a new official peripheral for the console, for example a white wireless USB keyboard...

Here is a list of keyboards reported to be working with the Wii:
- Logitech EX110
- Logitech LX300
- Logitech MX3200
- Logitech S510
- Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000
- Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 3000

If you try your wireless or wired USB keyboard on the Wii and it works or doesn't work please report that to us, so we can update the list of compatible devices.
